Parsifal was Richard Wagner's last Opera and is often considered a spiritual work with religious and ethical undertones. Following the music as a guide, I approached the work as an intuitive experiential journey putting images to sound. Inspired by how fascism and nazism used an aesthetic verging on kitsch, I used a similar visual language to questioned whether one can ever separate the anti-semetic and mysogynist undertones of Wagner’s work from the strangely beautiful, spiritual and visionary elements of his music.
